    Default Sunk Flooring in houses

Has there been any houses in Liverpool that came with Sunk Floors built into like the one below?, just a curiousity.

We all know the Beatles lived communally in such a way, each had their own front door.
I do like the extra trip bars employed in the picture above...progress eh?

I bet Ringo's old gaff in Madryn Street has a sunken floor.
The entire area is collapsing into a hole.
These Welsh Street eyesores should be demolished tomorrow, decrepit rubbish made of decayed bricks. Let anyone in favour of keeping them live in them.

I've looked at this photograph a number of times not being able to make up my mind if I like the sunken floor or not.

    I've decided no.

Can't see the point of it.

Any muck and dust from the higher floor would drift down onto the sofas.

The place would have to be kept pristine.

The concept was the people who had this type of living style was they were making a statement ie look at us we're trendy and with it.

Its so out of date and I'd hate to think if I came in zogged on the loopy juice one night I might hurt meself falling down a hole or worst still tripping over those rediculous bars,H&S spin to mind here.

Yes, not very safe, and I can't see the point of walking down a few steps just to sit down.

It's just pretentious 'aren't we so chic and sophisticated'

I think my first recollection of seeing this type of living quarters was in "The Avengers" before Joanna Lumely?
