    Good photos Gerard

'Paddy's wigwam' must be an Anfield thing - a few people around here call it that.
My step dad always calls it Paddy's wigwam, and I often say it too.

    Hi Lindy

Not sure it's an Anfield term. I heard the nickname starting in the Sixties when the Cathedral was first built, and I lived in Mossley Hill and went to school in Allerton. I think it was a fond name Liverpudlians gave the new building based on the unusual look of the architecture.

    All the best

It was being called Paddie`s wigwam while it was being built. The construction looked the same as the way Indian wigwams were built,8 or so poles tied at the top then clad in skins.

Thanks all for your comments and thoughts on my Metropolitan Cathedral photos
and who called it whatever.. and possibly why..

I appreciate all your comments, feel free to keep the comments coming as to why it may
have been called 'Paddys Wigwam' in certain parts of Liverpool... or wherever..

I hope its OK if I just thank you individually for any future comments by me clicking
the 'Like' thingyo to each individual comment...
theres no point in me repeating over and over I never heard it called that..
    I've said it once..

    Thank you..

Same here in the 60's. As Chris says, it was not a term of ridicule.

It was even called that around the university - where we all watched it every day being built - right out of the Student Guild windows.

Seismograph - without the recording paper in it.

So a guess at the location - Liverpool University.

A nostalgic semi-rude pic of Queen Vic. from the University Guild Gazette newspaper from Jan. 1967 to go with the previous "where is this taken from " picture.

Does it have anything to do with "The Bells"
If it does then I won't try and spoil it for anyone else
