    Albie Donnellys killer horn...

Taken at the Supercharge Liverpool homecoming gig Friday 21st Jan 2011..
I'll add a few of the band playing soon..

The pic shows a photograph I printed off and gave to Albie as a surprise..
Its a photo showing the bands from the Liverpool 1960's and 70's music scene.. and Albie is on the photo.
they all got together to re-enact the famous 1964 Astrid Kerchherr photograph of all the same lads..
I was very fortunate to be asked to take this re-enacted photograph..
no matter what happens from now on...
I can say I was chosen as the official photographer to take that photograph..
that will always be one of my proudest achievements to have taken the Astrid Kerchherr re-enacted photo..

Just catching up - - good idea to have taken photos of Woolies before it closed. Good to look back on like the old pics of Blacklers.

Pity there were no photies taken (as far as I know) of the Church st Woolworths before it went. I know there are some old black & white ones knocking about (from 1950s I think), but I mean pics of Woolworths late 1960's early 1970's.
I can just about remember what the upstairs cafe looked like. Can't really recall what the shop floor was like.

Hiya Linda...I've got a few pics of the outside of Blacklers...I've been offered a video of the inside being ripped out by the lads who got the contract to do the job...
the same lads who ripped out the POL Liverpool building..and WERE PAID to do it..

They took out all the desks, filing cabinets...every bit of furniture from the POL building..got paid to do it as I said...and then sold the lot in their 2nd hand junk shop.

Same with Blacklers as well, took everything out and got paid to do it and sold the lot on....

I wont buy the Blacklers video off them until they drop their price..

I remember Woolies shop floor....photo machine on the left right by the door when you walked in..
got a pic of me and my Mrs taken in that machine when we were about 12...

Next to the photo machine was the heel repair counter and engravers...
still got a little charm thing I got my Katies name and mine engraved on.. 1975 I think.
    ahhhhhhhhhhhhh...isn't that nice eh...eh...

I think I do remember the repair counter being near the door - can't remember much else though. There must have been a record counter - upstairs was it ?? - - and did Woolies sell clothes in those days ?

The record counter Lind was moved around a bit if I remember correct
it last ended up on the ground floor at the back end of the store..
it had a great box of cheap singles...I bought loads out of there.
I met Billy Kinsley in there once... or walked passed him like in awe..!

As you got off the upstairs escalator you were in the clothing department..
I dont think it sold a wide range of clothes...
but I do remember buying a woolie hat and gloves...or a scarf or something from there.
you then walked over toward the windows above Church St for the cafe...
    which I remember like yesterday.

    Liverpool people..

A one off photo is something that can not be taken again...
The Odeon Cinema London Rd showing the final curtain on the closing night...
One off, it can not be taken again...its gone...impossible to take another photo of that scene.

What would make a people one off pic... ?
if there was such a photo..
    in my opinion...simple..

    unstaged... and unrehearsed..
and definately none of this M'larky..
'ang on a minute while I do me hair... say cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeese'

No way in a million a years a one off photograph..

Unstaged and un-rehearsed... like all my people pics.
but not in my opinion one off...they can be taken again..
