I had some of my best hairdos at Herberts, very good at cutting and styling, others were Thatchers in St Johns, Peter Collinge- just got his MBE he had a shop in Muirhead Ave on the bridge and years and years ago Andre Bernard who was in the Peter Robinson Building opposite the Adelphi. George Henry Lee had a hairdresser and Binns had one too. I expect all the trendy ones are down Liverpool One now btw how much is a decent cut and colour now?

.. and Ellis & Lee ( not sure if that's the correct spelling - was it Ellison Lea? ) anyway, it was in Charlotte st - and was a good salon.

There was a good write up in the Echo a few days ago about Peter Collinge.

Eh up... somebody's making dosh.... !!!..

An old friend gets a good send off.. apart from.

I was accused by T***** M of being involved with making £3,000 out of HIS old Liverpool photographs.. I had to put him right that its not me, Ged Fleming, that is making money out of his photographs..
I'd like to get this straight.... I've made no money, not a penny, from anybodys phototographs

If anybody wants to take this up... take it up with Tucker M.
You...... know who I'm talking about.. and your name really is sh.it these days
(If the cap fits.. dig your hole, and fu**** sleep in it... )

Liverpool... the way I see it..

The 1848 Jesse Hartley Victoria Tower.. the dockers clock..
note the open doorway entrance to the dockers clock..
this doorway was blocked with an iron gate in October 2010 to stop vandals getting in..

When I find the time to pull myself away from things I'm involved in I will go through the hours of video footage I have made in this area and I will show a video I made inside the dockers clock....
I've made videos all over this area, inside the buildings and huts that have been removedfrom the area... inc a video I made inside what was a 'Cooling' gaol..
the gaol was mainly used to keep drunken foreign seamen locked up overnight for their own safety..
there's a very interesting story associated to this gaol, and the foreign seamen that were locked up in it
I'll tell the full story one day, if and when I show that particular video online.

I'll be down this area again very soon...wandering around for hours on my own..
its the best place ever, just watching the Mersey and the vessels coming and going..

I'll add my latest photos when I take them...

These photos are best viewed large...

    Thanks.... G...

A few from my personal collection..
I own copyright to these old Liverpool photos.. and I have lots of them..

These are not from the batch of old photos I recently came across..
that lot are over 100 years old... and I'll mention on here when I put them on my website..

This one shows the lighting column by the Queensway tunnel entrance...
it was designed by Herbert Rouse... the Mersey Tunnel architect..
It was 60ft high and was made from reinforced concrete and polished granite... there was one either side of the Queensway Tunnel... the Birkenhead one is still there.... the one in the photo on the Liverpool side ended up smashed to pieces in the old Corpy bin yard off St Domingo Road.

This shows the 'Lannie' at the Pier Head....

This was taken in 1953.. and shows Liverpool celebrating in the Queens Coronation year..

This one shows the Over Head Railway and Liver Building..
