    Default Travers Street, 1930s.

Another press photograph from the 1930s to illustrate Liverpool’s slum housing. The photograph was taken from the hind leg and unnamed street looking in the direction of Queen Anne Street (Gomer Street is the next street shown). The children in the foreground could be taken from any number of similar streets – with quite a [...]

Great pic Colin. I have similar ones of these streets from the LRO Queen Anne Street clearance area files of the early 1930s. Of interest to me because the four square tenements were built on their site when these streets were abolished. The photographer will be standing a little further in from Springfield with his back to Holy Trinity church on your street map.

Great now pics dazza. Since the demise of the tennies, this area has lain as a ghost town with those hills formed out of some of the rubble that was just grassed over.

That's right Ged. It does feel as though a grass rug as been pulled over the ruins of an earlier life there.
