    Default Sefton Park, 1890s

The scene is little changed today – although the boat house has been replaced by an impressive modern cafeĀ“.I need a clothing expert to date these three photographs. Lovely photographs. It's fascinating to see familiar scenes but from another era.

The coldest winters fell on December 1878, and January 1879.

    I'm getting closer.

    Great pics Colin.

The middle photo looks like a Lowry painting and is that Charlie Chaplin in the last pic?

Deffo middle to upper class if you can afford proper ice skates like the lad in the last pic.

For the record. I was reading 'The offical history book'.

You'd be surprised, or maybe not.

Does anyone remember the worst two winters in Britain's history???

    ANCIENT (1890s)...
Even if it were cold enough now to venture on to the lake, I'm thinking it's doubtful whether it would get past that Elfin Safety lot...

    AND MODERN (2010)

--- Though this is actually Princes Park.
