Can anyone help with this please.
I have this address on a birth certificate for the year 1840.
Front Lane, Aigburth Vale, Garston.
I cannot find it on any maps I have looked at.
I would like to know its position on a o/s map if possible.
The last birth cert for this address is 1852

I'll check for you. Nice to see Aigburth Vale correctly sited in the township of Garston

Front lane doesn't seem to be labelled on the on line 1850 OS map

And, of course, neither was part of Liverpool at that time. The really frightening thing (for me, anyway) concerns what would have happened if Garston had been, like Bootle, incorporated into a fully fledged town. Liverpool would have ended at Aigburth Vale

Thanks for looking, such a shame it cannot be located on a o/s map.
Would you have any ideas on the following locations for these addresses please.
Bath Villa Aigburth Vale 1841 folio ref Ho 107/0511/5-F44 Ann Dawson
Gerrards Cottages (by Victoria Buildings) 1851 folio ref Ho 107//2192/-F1143 Mary Dawson.
I think they come under Aigburth Hamlet on the 1841 census.
Also St.Annes on the 1851 census.
Thank you.

Hi xkopite
You are getting the name "Front Lane" from a birth certificate which I assume is handwritten. Could the name therefore me misinterpreted as "Front Lane" and in fact be something else?
Hi Chris
This address is off the 1851 Census and has been given as Front Lane, Aigburth Vale.
At a push and I mean a push you could read Trout Lane.
I have just checked the 1851 census and looked before the address for other addresses to give me a clue.
There are 2 cottages under the names of Greens cottages and Bartons cottages Aigburth Vale.
Maybe this can help.

Bath Villa is marked on the 1846-48 OS map.
I've underlined it in red.
Can't see any of the others, but the workers all lived in the area at the top of Aigburth Vale, below Mossley Dale House. Ewart's Cottage, Oakfield Cottage and Holly Cottage are there.
For certain parts of Liverpool, there was a large scale version of the 1848 OS map, but don't be surprised if that scale doesn't go as far as Aigburth Vale.
I'll check next time I'm in the library, but I think Dingle Lane is about as far as the large scale goes.
Phil
Thanks a big help good of you to look it up for me.
I have just looked at a o/s map 1908 for Aigburth Vale and Greens Cottages show up on Victoria Road after the Aigburth Arms.
Do you know if there are any old pics for this area.
