The first 2 pics - are they taken at Oglet shore ?
Don't know about the middle row of pics, but the gate posts - is that a side entrance to Calderstones park ?
Homeleigh - is it one of the houses in Cressington ?
The last pic looks like the road heading towards Garston. Aigburth rd ?

The last one certainly is Aigburth Road. - exactly opposite the Aigburth pub - the carvery there is my nephews favorite place.

The nicer, older Aigburth got pulled down and the newer pub built on the old bowling green when the road got widened into a dual carriageway.

Our newsagent had the last store on that block, and just behind the yellow/blue banner was the local Lotus dealer. In the 70's when I had my Lotus Elan, I would buy parts there to take back to the US - the trans-Atlantic price mark-up was quite amazing - 2 to 3 times on the smaller stuff!

Is the wall segment on South Mosseley Hill Rd?

This whole area was a large estate at one time, and some of the solid walls that marked the boudaries still remain - S. Mosseley Rd was a major boundary of one of the estates.

The third one, Batty's Dairy, backs on to Sefton Park, opposite the T.A. centre on Aigburth Road. It was probably one of several that used to exist in the area, where cows were kept in a back yard and taken to the parks to graze during the day.

The last one is also definitely Aigburth Road, but further south. You can see the Gulshan Indian Restaurant if you zoom in - a very good one!

    Some good guesses

    1. Dragons teeth at Dungeon Point
    2. An old farmhouse, Oglet.
    3. Battys Dairy on Aigburth Road
4&6.Tram wheel??(Anybody know what it is for sure?) Embedded in grass and tree roots by the Blenheim Hotel, Sefton Park.
    5. Old vehicle parked off Aigburth Road
    7. Evidence of gateway pillar encompassed by wall, Aigburth Road
    8. Remains of wall surrounding grounds of the former Grassendale House, Beechwood Road.
    9. Holmleigh entrance, the way in almost blocked by a tree growing in the way.
    10. Gateway pillar in the wall of all that remains of Holmleigh, Aigburth Road.
    11. Corner of Beechwood Green and Aigburth Road.......indeed home of The Gulshan and just opposite The Kingsman Pub. Here's an older view of the same spot. Click image for larger version.

The Blenheim hotel is the former family home of the Sutcliffe's as in Stuart Sutcliffe of the Beatles.

I went to a wedding at the Blenheim not so long ago.

I didn't know there was a wheel embedded by the tree. Mind you, it was a rainy day so we didn't linger around outdoors.

My pub name was a decade or two (or three) late.

The old Aigburth pub (the "Eggy") is actually the Kingsman now, I guess some members of my family are slow to change...

    Thanks Micnic for the reminder...

    On the 60's old pic,

The petrol station with the BP sign was the Lotus dealer I mention in post #3

As you come out of The Blenheim, turn right and walk towards Aigburth Road, just around the corner is a small patch of grass with a few tree dotted about, it's at the base of one of these trees and at first glance looks like a drain cover. I'm presuming its the wheel of a tram, I might be wrong, I'm sure somebody will identify it.

Thanks micnic, enjoyed your pics, especially the older one of Beechwood Rd corner, just as I remember it! and if I remember correctly the pubs name then was The Aigburth Arms . Cheers
