    Correct, sir!
It was built as the Swan Cinema and opened in 1917.
The building was demolished in 1996, but the mosaic floor in the foyer survived, but it's suffering from being left exposed to whatever happens to it.

Queen Vic used to have a mosaic map of the world above her head at her monument.

Mosaic Globe, Dingle Mount. There is another mosaic (a cross) at the top end of Dingle Mount (site of the Sixie Pub). Lots of schools seem to have a mosaic nowadays.

Isn't there one in Dr Duncans that was taken from a known city center business that closed down?

    Default 31 Cheapside.

This had been a pub in Victorian days, and it was finally listed in the 1908 edition of Gore's directory.
The only way to find out the name was to check the large scale 1890 edition of the Ordnance Survey map.
Not surprisingly, perhaps, it was called the Bridewell Vaults.
From 1910 Gore's lists the occupants as S McCain & Sons, provision merchants, and this shop front almost certainly dates from that time.
McCains had the premises until 1962, by which time they were described as egg merchants.
It appears to have been unoccupied at least until the end of the 1960s (when street directories ceased to be published).
It was occupied until a couple of years ago as offices, (estate agents, solicitors, or something like that).

They've got that book in the Clearance Book Centre, so I thought I'd see what the author had to say about 31 Cheapside, seeing as how it's been chosen for the cover.
"There's an interesting shop front in Cheapside, opposite the Bridewell."
    And that was all!
I wonder how many hours' research David Lewis put into finding that out?
