    Default Random night shots

Went out tonight to practice my night photography a bit (since 99% of them come out guff). The cloudy sky didn't help as everything got a "nice" glowing orange background, but I got a couple of reasonable shots:

    Canon EOS 350D, 90mm, f/4, 3.2s, ISO 400

    Canon EOS 350D, 75mm, f/4.5, 1/3s, ISO 1600

    Anyone recognise the location?

Runcorn-Widnes Bridge and Elsemere Port are my guesses!

If you shoot RAW, you can reduce the orange glow later in Photoshop. Alternatively you can try altering the white balance settings on the camera at the time of taking the shots.

First one is obviously Runcorn Bridge yes. Second is Weston Point actually. Both taken from the same vantage point on the west bank near Hale.
If this link works it should take you to the location:
    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=...1dcf8ba55566f9
Be warned it's down a very rough dirt track (I almost grounded my car a couple of times I'm sure), though you could park a bit further back and walk.

They're shot RAW, I did some tweaking of the white balance, but still a fair amount of orange there. Reckon I could clean them up even more?

Can you set a custom white balance ?, this should get rid of the orange
I use aFuji S5600 and to set custom WB I select it from the menu get a piece
of white card, fill the frame with white card press shutter release and save
    as custom WB

Yes it does, however I shot it raw so the white balance is tweakable in photoshop. I generally set white balance in camera raw by clicking something whitish in the scene - seems to give good results. I guess I could carry a grey card around to get proper white balance for stuff, but it's a bit of a hassle.

No, that is fine as long as you know about setting custom WB by using
either a white card or a whitish subject on site. Alot of people tend to
leave WB on auto and wonder why they get orange pic,s :-)

yer you could try to take some more of the orange away if you open them in paint shop pro X or a similar program and adjust useing the Adjust Colour Red/Green/Blue option and try takeing some of the red away.

i just had a go and came up with this:

i dont know if it's a bit darker than youd be after.
