Plans from Liverpool Airport for the creation of a three-star hotel and multi-storey car park have been approved by the local council.
The car park will have spaces on five levels, with a six story hotel on top that will feature an exterior video wall used to display images of John Lennon and The Beatles and highlight arts events in the city to arriving passengers.
Inside the hotel there will be an elliptical conference area offering panoramic views of the airport and Mersey Estuary as well as an enclosed link bridge that will span the road in front of the terminal.
Work on the £25 million development is due to commence shortly, with the project taking 18 months to complete.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is home to a number of airlines including easyJet and Ryanair, and is one of the fastest growing airports in the UK, welcoming more than five million passengers a year.
