Hi Mandy, I am a newbie and hope that this is the right place. I am looking for my paternal grandparents and beyond. Their name was Murphy.
My father, William Murphy, was born at 29 Spurgeon Street and he had 4 siblings;Letitia, Lesley,John and Frederick
My grandfather was also William Murphy (married an Elizabeth Hamilton) and it is thought he was born in Limerick.
My great grandfather was also called William and it is thought he worked as a builder and had some connection with George Henry Lee's(possibly helped to build it?).It is thought he may have been from Wallasey.

Grandfather William dies in 1935 and was then living at 35 Knocklaid Road/Street. Had served in WW1 in Kings Liverpool Irish and may well have been invalided out.

I have no further information on residences I' afraid. at this stage any help is most welcome. Merry Christmas, PPym

Forgive me if this site has already been posted but I've ordered a couple of CDs online as a trial.
Will let all know, when they arrive, if they're the 'real' thing.

    Hello.
I live in Canada, so research is remote and difficult. I am researching my Great Grandparents, Edward William Becker and Sophia Caroline Becker.. There name was Becker when they arrived in Liverpoo(pre 1878)l. They changed their name to Baker pre 1901. They lived
    Becker 1881 Toxteth Park
Becker 1891 9 Stopford Street Toxteh Park
    Baker 1901 Toxteth
    Baker 1911 46 Isaac Street Liverpool S

All these were taken from Census. Their children were on their own by 1911. Trying to find children around 1911. Unsure of first names. Would this be too large of a task to look up?
    Thank you,
    Sharon

    Default John Grogan MURPHY

    ppym

Has anyone come across a John Grogan Murphy shown on his son's marriage cert as living at 1 Bright Street, Everton in December 1917? Attempts to track him down have so far drawn a blank. Thanks, ppym

He's listed at 1 Bright Street in the 1911 directory.

Thanks Philip, nice to have it confirmed. He was married to an Ann Lee. Family scuttlebutt has it that she was something to do with the George Henry Lee family so the plot thickens. Regards, Pauline

I wonder if you could have a look at Edinburgh Road, L`pool 7 in the 1938 directory - we lived in 56, opposite was an Italian lady I used to visit as a toddler. Not sure if the odd numbers were directly across from the evens - maybe checking on the odds from say 47 to 65 would cover the possibilities - anyone in those with an Italian name, please? ( I used to call her `Mrs.Afternoon`, I think that was the closest I could get to her name!) Many thanks.

    1936 Directory.
No Italian names, at all in Edinburgh Road.
The only unusual name between Albany and Saxony Roads is Israel Fishgold at 71 Edinburgh Road.

Mrs Emma Gorst was at 55.

Default can someone assist with a directory check request pse

Could someone check 35 collins street for a lopano murphy and see where she was born pse?
She appears in the 1881 census with a shoemaker husband called William and the other occpnts being Margaret (19) and John(3). I am wondering if the boy's age is 3mths rather than 3yrs for reasons outlined below.
In the 1871 census William appears with a wife called Joanna(who appears to have died in 1881 and a son John aged 7ys(who is poss. the one who died in1880 aged 17) and a dau.Margaret aged 9yrs. Then shown as living at a 52 ?Toxteh Park
So far I have drawn a blank.
Am I dealing with 2 families or 1? Lopana's place of birth and maiden name would help. Can anyone assist me in solving this conundrum pse? Regards, Pauline
