I got both of mine through acquaintances.
Mandy can say where she got hers from.
    I think they're on CD's.
Keep asking in second-hand bookshops, but expect to pay anything up to £75 for Victorian ones. (I see you're in Australia, but this advice is aimed for everybody).
Not that I know anything about eBay, but I suppose that will be the main source these days, but with the paper being very fragile, I wouldn't like to buy one by post (and they're so heavy, the postage must be costly).

    Default toxteth.net

I don't know whether it's been mentioned, but toxteth.net have a large selection of extracts from directories going all the way back to 1821.
Bear in mind that it is only a selection, but all the main roads are covered, and some others.

    Hiya Mandy ,
Please can i ask you to look up .

    29 Irving St , Litherland , surname should be HINDLE , IN 1938 .

A friend is desperate to try & locate her siblings , as she was adopted .
This is her address on her birth cert ,
Does anyone know if this street is still standing or when it was demolished .
    Thanks for any help

1936. John William Reid was at 29 Irving Street.
There were no Hindle's in Litherland

Irving Street is not listed in 1968, and doesn't exist now.
It was close to Seaforth & Litherland Station.

There's only one Ruskin Street in 1936, and that was in Kirkdale.
I've got Irving Street on the 1907 OS map.
Do you want me to scan it?

They were at 145 in 1936.
For 1968, 141 and 147 are listed, but not 145, and they're not in the Alphabetical section.
