Default Newish housing complimenting an old area.

It was a good idea to keep these pleasing to the eye, given that they are only over the road from the splendour of Huskisson and Falkner Streets. (they're facing Ye Crack in Rice Street)

Nice photo Ged. These houses replaced some very rundown workshops on Rice St. They are owned by a local housing association. It shows that social housing can be well designed if there is the incentive to do so.

I guess they could be worse. It still looks more like lip service to the dominant architecture in the immediate area than sympathetically thought through. On the positive side - at least they are family houses rather than 1/2bedroomed apartments.
