Crikey, wait till Kev sees this, I think you're right. Sorry Kev.
They're my cousins from Bagley.

taken today, Friday the 13th
on the corner of Romer St And Kensington.
Two images with a bit of Social History.
During world war II, the Water board could not guarantee the amount/pressure of water to fight fires due to bombing, and so EWS(emergence Water supplies) Stations were set up, Usualy these were ponds, bathing houses, or purpose built resovours, these images where taken on sheid road.
The bottom one says EWS 100 YDS.
Hi drone pilot
Here's a pic of another EWS sign in Fulwood, a suburb of Preston, Lancashire, as well as discussion of such signs and the meaning of the abbreviation.

When I get permission to display them on here, I've got access to lots of pictures around the Edge Hill area with EWS on.
There is another EWS sign opposite Belvedere school.A couple of years ago I pointed it out to some guy who was in the area taking photos while he was searching for Princess Barracks, which was set up during the war for new intakes (I think that's what he said).
With the weather holding up I think it may be a weekend of walking around with the camera
When I was a kid I used to go to the Woolton Cinema for Saturday kids matinee, at the bottom of the street there was an EWS, last time i was around there it was a car park.

You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else.

Apartments have been built there.
There's a photo of the Woolton (and the car park) here:

I don't think that is the one I meant, I seem to remember it was right at the bottom of the street on the same side as the cinema.
I could be wrong though it has been a long time.
