    Hi Tony

I will email your friend. He has a number of bugs to get out of the site including some typos -- "Bibiliography" for example as a major heading at http://web.mac.com/keithjtinkler/iWe...liography.html

    Gnomie,
this is a really interesting site and enjoyed the poem by I presume, his missus?
    -------------------------
    Ah Liverpool, I am beloved
Of that city where the poor could dream
And even feel the stuff of dreams
    In ropes around the bollards
On Jesse Hartley's docks. Real ropes
That were heart strings and harp strings
    Resounding the surgings of love
Or, the ebbings of loss. In the fathoms
Of Mersey murky waters where the winds
With the tides drew most ships across the Bar.

Today, with my children, I sail
In the boat named the "Ben My Chree."
It's only a four hour ferry half over
The Irish Sea to Douglas, Isle of Man.
Trouble is, my Dad sitting near the gangway,
    With thoughts of years ago
    When legion bumper crossings were
Delivering the courage of the Nation as
Export to that Lady in New York.
I see Dad speaking to the Great Ghost
    Of ineffable sentimentality who watches
Anyone, any day, leaving from Liverpool
In the trust of the old Pier Head.

In this case, a middle-sized ferry, uncrowded,
Then our flying back to Canada after that.
    Don't worry Ghost, or Dad,
In a couple of years we'll be back. Perhaps
We'll shift our future leavings, better for you,
To The John Lennon Airport. No sitting there
Near the Liver Birds blowing your nose
In the drizzle with tears. The JLA
Has good snacks, newspapers with crosswords
To do, as well as catching sight of multitudes,
    Mostly short stop-in-the-sun vacationers,
Coming home in droves. The name
Of the famous Beatle won't work you up.
Your head is singing in the Anglican Cathedral
And revering Gilbert Scott. You will see
Our way of leaving Liverpool is a newer,
Worldly mode of constant Coming Back.
