The Liverpool Records Office is featured in this week's 'Who Do You Think You Are' with Griff Rhys Jones. I noticed David Stoker, who runs the LRO in the trailer last night.
Hi, I don't know if anyone can help. My grandfather Dudley Delamere Wright always said he was born in a pub, so I ordered his birth certificate which does state that his father George Wright was a public house manager.
My grandfather was born in 1 Brunel Street South Everton in 1913, I can't find any info about the street and it doesn't help that I don't know the name of the pub, my grandfather did say it had been demolished.
If anyone can help you will make me very happy because I have been trying for ages.
Thanks
Wendy

Hiya Wendy
Brunel Street was off Whitefield Rd & in 1911 the occupier of no.1 Brunel St was Miss Claudina King -Victualler but it doesn't mention what the pubs name was
There is a Brunel pub there today but that is a modern building
If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull

Hello Wendy.
1936 directory:
1 Brunel Street (L6):
"Reservoir Hotel", Mrs Susan Alice Kearon.
Thanks very much PhilipG and Robbo176. I have something new to research now, will let you know how I get on.

Hi everyone
I went to Liverpool Central Library on Saturday and found a picture of the Reservoir Hotel. I also found my Great Grandfather listed in the Gores Directory from 1915 to 1920 but had to stop there because I run out of time.
But at least I have proof now that my family once had the pub.
Couldn't find a street map with Brunel St listed though, I will have to go back and have another look.
Has anyone heard of the Delamere School of Dancing because my Grandfather's sister had a dance school in the Crane Hall? Hylda D Wright died in 1971 aged 64.
Brunel Street (map centre). Undated map (around 1880)
Crane Hall is the Neptune Theatre.
Thanks Marky
The map is brilliant I've been looking for one for ages.
