Default Liverpool City Police station (central) circa 1880 - 1900

Hi, I'm looking for photo (or illustrative) reference for Liverpool City Police station circa 1888.

I'm also finding it difficult to uncover any information about the central police station at that time so any additional info would be brilliant.

    Thanks.

Any address to go off? Was there one, what is classed as central? There were old bridewells in Fazakerley st, Duke st and Cheapside for sure.

See, I've not even got that far. I just assumed there would be a central station - a main HQ sort of thing. :-/ Any ref for, or info on, any of the above mentioned stations would be great.

Yeah, I saw that. Strange piece of "memorabilia" that, given the strike context.

The book to get is "From Cutlasses to Computers" - a history of Liverpool's police.

Book arrived yesterday and is just what I needed. Thanks again Ged (and everyone else).

FYI it turns out that the Main Bridewell is, indeed, the station I was looking for. Now a Jalons, apparently.

I did notice while I was searching before that there are a few pictures of the Liverpool Police Brass Band, but not a lot of architecture in them. Although they were the right dates.
