There is a whole book about London by Jane Peyton called Looking Up in London: London As You Have Never Seen It Before and one time I had a great time walking round the sites seeing things high up that people walking along the street probably wouldn't notice. Someone should write a similar book about Liverpool!

    Somebody has!
It's by Andrew Richardson and is called "Well, I never noticed that!"
I think it had a limited run, and was rather expensive.

    A word of warning.
It was produced more like a university thesis than a commercial book.

There are two books. 'Well, I never noticed that part one - The statues and monuments of Liverpool and Bootle'. Also 'Well, I never noticed that part two - The decoration of the buildings of Liverpool and Bootle'. I am of the opinion that these two books are a must even if they, together, are on the dear side.

Liverpool monuments site has the two books still listed...re-prints, by the looks of things.

Default 17 March. Litherland Garden Centre (Apparently!).

    Sefton Street.

There has to be a story behind this wonderful jumble, but I don't know what it is.

Default Lewis's - The Heart of Liverpool

Will we soon be seeing a shop exceedingly bare?

Most Merseysiders will know that earlier this month the future of Lewis's, one of Liverpool's best-loved stores, was beginning to look uncertain as Owen Owen went into administration.

The reality of the situation was clear to all as 'STORE CLOSING' signs went up on Wednesday March 7th.

I was extremely saddened to see this and I'm sure the vast majority of local people are feeling much the same way. It's a very sad thought, as Liverpool looks to the future more than ever before, that Lewis's may not be a part of it.

Optimistically though, I do believe that a buyer will be found and that Lewis's will continue to trade under its famous and trusted name. I certainly hope so.

What is Liverpool without its Liver Birds? What is Liverpool without Lewis's?

Great picture Marky. I've worked in this building for nearly 7 years, but only noticed Neptune about 12 months ago. He looks best with a blue sky behind him

Photoshop Is much easier when you have Sony and Carl Zeiss lenses.

The Japanese are smart to use the Germans for their lenses. Japan + Germany = Godlike Power!

The proof Is Japanese Technology and German Efficiency.
