I noticed yesterday the graded buildings by the Cabbage Hall are covered in netting - - I hope they are not going to demolish them

as far as I know they are Grade 2 listed and date back to 1700's I think.
Isn't it the original Cabbage Hall ??
Will post a picture soon - I 've got one somewhere.

I did hear a rumour that they were going to develop the site into apartments - looks like this is going to happen.

Surely they won't pull down that building ?? - because under the render which covers the frontage there is the original sandstone, which I believe can be seen from the back too. They could make the existing building into apartments without demolition.

    ps,

look on page 3 of this thread, (post no. 44) the 1st attachment is a pic of the building in question.
The one with the white render.

Are they actually on Breck Road?
If so, they're not Listed (unless they've been Listed in the last couple of years).

This is all there is for Breck road:
    * April 14, 1975 II Breck Road Church of Holy Trinity
    * April 14, 1975 II Breck Road L5 Richmond Baptist Church

I think I'll make this my signature:
"Never assume a building is Listed, because it probably isn't."

I remember that story abot those buildings being in the Echo quite a while back. I thought they were grade two, looks like now they are Lew Grade instead.

I can't say for sure but I did hear that they are listed. Could be wrong. They are very old anyway. As far as I understand - this was the original Cabbage Hall Inn.Someone just told me that they spoke to the workmen and the building is to be demolished

I can't imagine Breck rd without those buildings
Have a look at the attachment - although the bays are not on the existing building, you can see the general shape hasn't changed and the chimmney pots are the same.
Someone scanned this pic to me - don't know the source of the pic - but I just want to show you the old Cabbage Hall.

I don't think the present buildings are the same as the drawing.
The two blocks are obviously from the same period.
At a rough guess, I'd say not much earlier than the 1840s.
Having said all that, I don't know much about the Cabbage Hall area.

Far too many of the better buildings have been ripped out of Anfield. There are too few of the lovely big houses remaining now.
The big houses along Anfield rd are being destroyed for the new LFC plans.
The lovely villas of Breckside Park are being demolished one by one - the road was once lined with these big houses and now only 3 or 4 remain. I think maybe 2 are still occupied, and the other is an old age home, (you can see how beautiful the villas were) : Breckside Park attchments.

The last straw is to see that they are now going to demolish those old sandstone houses (or at least one block of them) on Breck rd.

    Did you Chris

you should have mentioned it before, and I would have taken a photo of the house before it was demolished.

.. come to think of it - I should have photographed all the houses anyway for posterity.

hi Steve, I use photobucket for more detailed pics - but as these particular ones are of just wasteground and not much to see - I reduced them in size to save space. More interesting pics and I post larger.
