The Puds of My Childhood

Blancmange!
I had the pud
as a Liverpool lad:
white, jelly-like, strawberry jam
on top.

Christmas
pud, mmmm, all good:
sprig of holly on top,
blue flame, be careful, look out for
tanners.

Nanna's
blackberry and
apple pie: fruit I'd help pick
in the Mossley Hill rain that
morning.

I licked
the cake mix bowl.
She always made me
a pastry man with currants
for eyes.
