    Default Capital of Culture Volunteers

I hope this is in the right place. Apologies if it isnt.

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the volunteers? I applied online 2 weeks ago but haven't heard anything back. They did say it would take up to 20 days for a form to be sent out and that the next training was Sept 2006. Hmm.... have I missed the boat?

Anyone else applied or even done the training?

It does take a while before you will hear from the Culture Co after applying to be a volunteer. In my case it took a few months and I completed the 1 day training course in december 2005. The initial training concentrates on Customer Service but there are further training opportunities available such as first aid and dealing with international visitors which includes some foreign language learning. The training usually takes place at the United Utilities sewerage works on the Dock Rd. Don't forget a peg for your nose!!!! I am sure you will hear something shortly as I know the Culture co is keen to recruit more volunteers. However if you wish to chase them up I suggest you speak to Leslie Williamson or Mary Beaumont.

    Ah thank you Munchkim.

I just have to learn to be patient then.

Yeah, I did it eventually. Sent several emails and waited several months. I'f give them a few days to settle down after the opening then chase it up.

I applied last year and had a form sent to me after about 5 weeks. A couple of weeks after I sent it in, I went for a day's training on the dock road. They were interested that I am fluent in French and have a working knowledge in Spanish.
I get an e-mail from them each week telling me about forthcoming events and an invite to the Convcert preview. However, I have not yet been approached as to what voluntary duties I will be expected to undertake.

LOLOL The British and foreign languages. Somewhat like fire and water.

But nevertheless, for questions regarding German, I could help. - Crap! The whole world speaks your language. There is no need to learn any tourist-language.

Btw, why does Liverpool has that name? Has that something to do with a liver in a pool?
