    My grandfather told me he saw Houdini perform in Liverpool as well. I believe he was wrapped in chains and lowered into one of the docks. Maybe someone else knows more about it.

    Here's a link to a theatrical poster - advertising Houdini at the Empirein 1904. The poster, signed by "Head Constable" gives a description of how Houdini escaped from one 3 pairs of handcuffs, opened his locked cell door, opened all the other cell doors and moved a prisoner from one cell to another whilst nude!
