MarkR and Ian David Fryer (FJumble) flank Russell Johnston prior to his informative talk. Russell is the grandson of the Wallace's next door neighbours, John (Jack) Sharpe and Florence Johnston who lived at 31 Wolverton Street. At the time, no fewer than 6 people were living at the Johnston's which makes a mockery of Tom Slemen's story that Jack was the Anfield Housebreaker and murderer of Julia. In fact, it was to Russell's parents, Edgar and Phyllis that Jack and Flo were on their way to on that fateful night when they bumped into the agitated William Herbert Wallace in the back entry who could not gain entry to his own house. The day after the murder, Jack and Flo decided to move into Edgar and Phyllis' at 358 Townsend Avenue to escape the mess that was going on around them.

Russell Johnston giving his talk including maps of the areas involved in the case. Philip Mann, Russell's cousin was also present to give a summary and rebuke of what Tom Slemen had published about Jack Johnston.

I don't know Ian, since I've lost my old tape of the 1981 show. I think I asked you once before, any chance of a copy of yours? Where are you based?

Thanks Ian. If they are on CD it's just a five minute job to copy them. I'm only in Crosby so could easily run along to Derby Rd. I'd love to have a copy. I'll PM you with some suggestions.

That would be excellent Ian - sure would appreciate it. Do you have Conspiracy of Silence? I have that too.

Ian, a PM is a "Private Message"
Go to the very top of this screen, look under Notifications, then Inbox. You will find a PM from me there.

I should have all the 1981 Radio City show uploaded shortly.

Many thanks to Ian. It was a pleasure to meet you today.

Part Four of the 1981 Radio City show - "Conspiracy of Silence"
John Parkes' explosive testimony, in his own words
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13331381/03-...%20Silence.mp3

In the dramatisation, Wallace was played by Pete Postlethwaite, who died earlier this month.
I believe "Conspiracy of Silence" was broadcast 5 weeks after the phone in, so they don't discuss Parkes' testimony...
