I've just downloaded the four segments! I've always wanted to listen to this again - more so in the last five years or so, particularly the phone-in part.
Rod, thank you so much for taking the time and uploading the files.
I am in agreement with Charles St Hill. I am not and have never been convinced that the murderer was definitely right-handed. Julia was struck on the left side of the head (above the ear) - in all probability the first blow. I honestly believe she was struck first when leaning over the fire and from behind. If that is the case the blow to the side of the head would indicate to me that the killer was indeed left-handed (or that the blow was struck with the left hand to be more precise). I'm sure Richard Gordon Parry was left-handed.

Thanks very much indeed, Rod - I never expected to be able to hear this again. This is where I first heard how the police botched the whole investigation, due to the galloping promotion of incompetents in the force following the Police Strike, notably among whom must have been Superintendent Moore. Having just listened to it again, I have to say that a blatant disregard for the truth in his attempt to convict Wallace must be added to the charge of incompetence!

So. To dismiss John Parkes story as untrue is to call 5 of the Atkinson family liars too yeah?
Goodman and Wilkes have always had Qualtrough as the murderer - but of course Qualtrough = Parry, with his accomplice as the murderer would mean that the mystery of driving with an oilskin and waders on would not have had to have happened. After all, Parry did -appear with a second man to put the frighteners on Parkes.
Thanks Rod for those downloads, great to listen again.
I consider Wallace was innocent, I feel Parry plus an accomplice committed the crime, the accomplice did the deed , leaving Parry blood free which explains how the murderer covered in blood left none on door handles, Parry opened and closed them, however transporting his accomplice in his car he needed it hosing out to get rid of any blood trail.
All of these authors wrote about the Wallace case. Can you name them?

Not too sure about Parry being actually in the house with his accomplice though or his prints could have been found. Much more realistic imho for him to have maybe dropped him off and picked him up though.
Well, here are the answers below:
1. James Agate
2. Edgar Lustgarten
3. F Tennyson Jesse
4. John Rowland
5. Dorothy L Sayers

Is Roger Wilkes camera shy or does he just have a face for radio. No Vincent Burke or Tom Slemen either
Great quiz..cheers MARK..wish I'd have seen it earlier! I'd have never have got JOHN ROWLAND & I'd have only guessed TENNYSON JESSE by elimination as I dont recall ever seeing a picture of this lady(she is a great witer on crime) I thought the RADIO CITY broadcasts might have provoked more discussion,or is everybody now entrenched in their traditional viewpoint? Thanks for NOT including Tom Slemen who of course didnt write about the Wallace case..just fantasy fiction!!! IAN(FJumble)
Yes, I feel that Roger Wilkes's programme for Radio City ( It was a very different institution in those days, under the watchful eye of Gillian Reynolds!) has not been given due recognition in these discussions...
As for Tom Slemen, well I can't think why anyone took him seriously in the first place!
