Lascar House which was originally the Anglo American Hotel was used by Beldam Asbestos Co in its last guise up until the 1980s. At the end of last month it collapsed into the street. Here are some pics of it now. More of it including the rubble and cellars on show on the streets ahead page of my site below.

Our band rehearsals took us down to Vulcan Studios on the next block to the above. Some great old remnants of the history of the building still in situ as I was allowed to wander around and snap away. More on the buildings page of my site.

Great pictures guys. Really moody. Love the industrial scenes, far better than the tourist shots.

I'm guessing you mean on my Flickr page? Cheers anyway - and cheers to Joe for the images on this thread.

My Dad worked on the docks and he often took me with him to get his pay etc !, I always enjoyed seeing the old buildings, giant ropes, capstans, etc I just wish I had had the foresight to take a camera with me !....
My family all lived around the Dingle and when my Nan had her "big" house on Grafton Street I used to stand on the "Iron bridge" and wait for the "puffer trains" to go under and the air would fill with the steam and smoke, does anyone have any pictures of the bridge ??

Isn't that the place that a scene in the really bad Liverpool movie "The 51st State" (also known as "Formula 51") was made - a car launched off the dock onto a barge, IIRC.

It was a really bad and gory movie...

Joe, was the water in Trafalgar Dock the same level, or was it just the two graving docks that overflowed?

Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool
becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the
tourist. Would we visit a modernised Venice of filled in
canals to view its modern museum describing
    how it once was?

The Trafalgar was the same level but the dockside between the 2 graving docks is slightly lower causing the overflow
