Where is the fourth picture, with the overhead walkway between the two buildings, taken? Thanks.

Porter St. as I recall.
If you look on the map, it's one in a grid of warehouse streets and one of my favourite little areas of Liverpool.
Hope when the development reaches the central docks they retain all this stuff.
both these photos were taken from the albert dock frontage on the afternoon of 22nd december-and only an hour apart.
great images, i love the first, very atmospheric.

i was watching a program about docks and apparently at the time each scoop full of scrap metal from the claw was worth about 400 quid. Don't know if its true but... it looks awful there's potentially a lot of dosh on that dock.
It is sent to Spain and Taiwan. The demise of the British steel industry means the scrap goes abroad - half way around the world. High fuel prices may mean it is cost effective to melt it down in the UK. I wish some steel mill would open up to take that appalling sight away.

We hear about carbon footprints and the like and are all made to feel guilty and pay for extra tax on larger vehicles etc yet we all know that the worlds leaders fly halfway round the globe to summits. I wonder how much cargo goes around the world that could be home produced.
Lascar House which was originally the Anglo American Hotel was used by Beldam Asbestos Co in its last guise up until the 1980s. At the end of last month it collapsed into the street. Here are some pics of it now. More of it including the rubble and cellars on show on the streets ahead page of my site below.
Our band rehearsals took us down to Vulcan Studios on the next block to the above. Some great old remnants of the history of the building still in situ as I was allowed to wander around and snap away. More on the buildings page of my site.

Great pictures guys. Really moody. Love the industrial scenes, far better than the tourist shots.

Nice one Joe. You wouldn't think that was Liverpool.
My Dad worked on the docks and he often took me with him to get his pay etc !, I always enjoyed seeing the old buildings, giant ropes, capstans, etc I just wish I had had the foresight to take a camera with me !....
My family all lived around the Dingle and when my Nan had her "big" house on Grafton Street I used to stand on the "Iron bridge" and wait for the "puffer trains" to go under and the air would fill with the steam and smoke, does anyone have any pictures of the bridge ??
