I think it closed in the early 80's but the sign was still around until the development of Liverpool One. Is now Costa Coffee.

    Cheers.
Thought I had one of this place-always liked the signs on it!

I remember it as a photographic shop, not as Cousins-as that was before my time!

Also, here's Barratt House opposite, mirroring the design a little I think.

QUOTE=Liz Smith;289715]I came from Garston like Brian but was born and brought up "under the bridge". I can remember two cake shops in Window Lane, Hales who sold scrummy custard slices and a small cake and pie shop I can't remember the name. they did their baking in the shop - I can still smell the pies which were to die for! they also sold iced squares -they were sponge cake covered icing mmmmm. I worked in an opticians at the top of Bold Street and there was a Cousins shop at the very top on the corner. I got my wedding cake from there in 1973 it cost me £7.50! I can remember going into Cousins at lunch time for filled baps that they make while you were waiting - cheese and onion mmmmm![/QUOTE]

Just a short comment. On Booker Avenue near where I lived on Aigburth Hall Avenue, there was a Cousin's just a couple of doors up above North Mossley Hill Road. I remember there was a lady there with purple hair, which was unusual in the 1960's, not so much now! There was also a Waller's bread shop/cake shop higher up the road, above Brodie Avenue. I don't know how big a chain that was. When my Nanna used to send me to do the shopping with the old leather bags it was usually to go to Cousin's, Bousfield's the greengrocers, and the Co-op for meat, cheese, etc.

How about this cake shop my mum ran.
I think it was called Leifer & Martin. It was by the Brunswick pub. All info appreciated.

I'm confused, my mum and dad both met in Cousins, but wasn't it in Speke?
