Somewhat ironically, he has dated both photographs 1st April 1980.This was no April Fool’s joke, unfortunately, just the end of a fine institution that had served the city well for over 70 years. My recollection was that the street and hostel [...]

A crime that the Theatre was demolished. Great pictures yet again. Thanks Colin.

Great pic' Colin, but sad that almost all vestiges of David Lewis's benevolence to the city, have now gone!Even his grave in Dean rd.is in a sorry state, though there is some plan to renovate this, along with the rest of the cemetery.

The shops are dilapidated in preparation for demolition. The Seven Up Chinese restaurant is still there boarded up. That was excellent. They moved over to Nelson St in bigger premises.

Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool

All this block was long ago demolished.
The restaurant at the corner of Berry Street and Upper Duke Street is still there.

The large brick building on the right was the Royal Telephone Exchange.
    (Formerly the Royal Assembly Rooms.)
