    Question Newby - Garston

I've recently started to trace my family tree. My dad, Leslie Newby, was born in 1925 and was brought up in Garston along with his brother, Charlie. We moved from Thomas Street when I was about three, my dad would have been about 40 then. He was a bus driver at Garston Depot but sadly died in 1979 when he was just 54. My grandfather was called Oswald 'Ossy' Newby. Can anyone please help with any information relating to my ancestors?

Hi Trish, welcome have a look through the other threads on this section, ideas were to go next.
There are a number of people on Yo who have been compling their trees and will certainly come to your aid, a number who still live in garston and some ex like me.

    Hi Trish

Welcome to the site, Trish. I had a classmate at Quarry Bank High School named Rory Newby who was possibly related to the Newbys you are interested in -- Rory and I were at Quarry Bank in the second half of the 1960's. I have at this point lost track of him although I will make enquiries to see if we could possibly reconnect and see if Rory has any information that could help you.

    Hi Trish ~~welcome ~~

I don't know if this may be of any use to you in helping with your search , but here goes .

Oswald C Newby married Winnifred Marrion at St Michael Wavertree. in 1920.

There is a marriage for a Mary A Newby to Samuel N Davey in 1916 at Island Rd Methodist Church Garston .
