Hah the good old Mini skirt Mary Quant named it after her Mini car, it went out of fashion in early 70's though Collin and when the punk scene arrived it came back but the girls were wearing blacktights and skirt.

Thanks again Colin ... enjoyed the Mini's...Va-Va-Voom!

The Swan Inn appears on the 1848 OS map highlighted in Red. Is the Swan on your photograph on the opposite side of the road to this one?

    Cheers,

Haha, of course. I remember now. How could I forget, it was a real eye-sore on that island. Thanks George. There must have been another Swan that predates that one. See the map below. The Swan in Collin's photo is just called Family Vaults. They must have switched names later on.

Colin's photo: how many of you spotted the guy clocking the girls walking past? Look at top left window in the Swan. He could be just watching the horses, or parade though?

Great shot,Colin! The pub looks like it's just had a makeover, but I wonder why the police are there? Possibly a lodge march,as that was the route, around that time!(or even footy supporters, being escorted to Lime st!)

I enjoyed a few pints there in the 60s. Can't remember what the shop in the background sold though.

The photograph was taken at the same time as my earlier post of the Orange Lodge procession. It is one out of a sequence of about 10 shots.

Is it two separate shops ? The window looks like it's got clothes in it, possibly a wool shop or something like that. I can't remember anything being there before the Machine Mart place
