These show scenes of Liverpool children from the late 1800's and courtesy of Liverpool City Library and the Records Office.

That 4th one from the left, the girl stood on the table in the pub singing has always fascinated me.

The customers dont look over the moon at her either, unless its just the traditional Victorian stiff upper lip.

The location is usually given as Richmond Row. I didn't know you could upload that many thumbnails into the one message and there's me doing 5 at a time on the other thread <doh>

The black lad at the steble fountain went on to sing all over the world, see the Scottie press website for details of that cos i've forgotten the full details.

Ged, that's interesting. Wonder if they know his name on the web-site?

Kev, those pictures did bring a tear to my eye.

Those kids had a raw deal in life didn't they.

You saved me the trouble of searching.

That info is SO interesting. I know that picture well - the one of the kids at the fountain. I had no idea that boy turned out to be famous - and in Argentina too. Wow !

I have some Argentinian friends who will be interested to see that

Lindylou and anyone else interested. The scottie press site is a mine of info regarding the Vauxhall and Everton areas. You could spend a week traipsing through the whole site looking for a small article so just go to the search menu on the left and for instance I just typed in 'steble' to get this article up right away.
