    Default Playhouse.

    Remember the taxi rank,outside the "Playhouse"? It's not that long ago,but surprising how quickly people forget! Adam Faith is starring in "Alfie".

    The taxis are in a circle.
    Why?
    Because they're parked round the circular underground toilets.

    Great photo.
    Is the date known?

    I went to see Alfie on the Playhouse, I think it was circa 1983.

    I started to go back to the Playhouse this year to see three totally different shows;

    - The 39 Steps, great parody of Hitchcock's version of the book
    - Ghost Story, atmospheric homage to horror films such as Tales From the Crypt
    - Morecambe, Bob Goldings superb portrayal of the life of Eric Morecambe

    A great little theatre that always makes the audience feel part of the performance.

    Great Photo Steve I remember it well! As kids we used to get the taxi from there! We also used to get taxis from the one inside Lime Street Station (alongside the arches). Don't know whether anyone has any photos of that rank...

    I seem to remember a few underground toilets. I think there was one in Scotland Road and London Road.
