The foundation stone was from the period when it was a methodist church. The methodists don't seem to have survived very well in Wavertree with a number of their churches closing down. Similarly the United Reform Church whose original main building in Earle Rd is now a mosque.

    Default St Mary's Church Wavertree

St Mary's Victoria Park Wavertree was originally a Wesleyan Methodist Church. It was purchased after WW2 by the Church of England to replace the bomb damaged original St Mary's Church, Sandown Park. This interesting pair od foundation stones show continuity between the two sites.

    Default Toxteth Technical Institute

Just thought I'd mention that Tocky Tech. reaches its' Centenary on 17th October 2007 (this Wednesday). Worth photographing, if I don't forget by next week. It's the red-brick building at the start of Aigburth Road.
