I'm not sure I understand. Are the two separate halves of the arena different things?

I mean, is the stadium not the whole lot - or is one half the stadium and the other this conference centre?

I'm struggling too, but I'm beginning to think the arena and conference centre are exactly the same size, and that the seats are so much more spread out in the conference centre.

Councillors were shown round for the first time today,with Flo CLucas saying the city should go for the G8 summit. Would be great to raise Liverpool's profile but can't see police putting up with the hassle somehow, Condoleeza Rice's visit caused enough disruption.

THE arena development around Liverpool’s Kings Dock will give the city’s economy a cash injection of £51m a year, experts have revealed.

The new Liverpool Arena and Convention Centre, and the surrounding Kings Waterfront developments, are due to open early next year to help celebrate the city’s European Capital of Culture crown.

An estimated:

• 2,200 full-time (equivalent) jobs will be created by 2012, according to economic impact statistics.
• The £146m ACC Liverpool will open in January 2008 in time for the opening ceremony. It has 42 confirmed events in 2008 and beyond, with several organisers booking for three consecutive years.
• The arena and convention centre will provide Liverpool with a 10,600-seat arena, a 1,350-seat convention centre, and exhibition space in excess of 7,000 square metres.
