I was speaking Spanish....or was it Greek?
Hey, it's getting off topic, George will tell us off.
OH - You are George???
The greeks also coined the word 'Necrophilia' .......dont ask.
Brilliant pics, I went down that area a couple of week ago looking for Aubrey Street, as I have some old pics of trams
coming along Aubrey Street from the water tower.
Ged can you talk us throught the old City Engineers pic, An amazing shot,
Quite creepy really, Necropolis translates as 'City of the Dead'. Oooooh!
This one Johnny.
Well the 3 high rise nearest us are the Piggeries. Crosby, Canterbury and Haigh heights. That's William Henry Street running up alongside them meeting Shaw St. Interestingly, that end of Georgian Terrace house at the top of Willy Enny as we called it is now a frontage shell only and held up by scaffolding. The houses are pretty deep and hopefully this block will be getting restored like the other end which goes to Salisbury Street. Incidentally, the church bottom right is SFX and you can just see a sliver of The Collegiate.
The park on Shaw St is Whitley Gardens, known locally as Shaw Street park, I used to frequent it, there's little sandstone parts in it and paths, quite nice. Pics of it when first opened on my site. The notorious Radcliffe Estate was built on the all the wasteland mid picture. The high rise to the right on the Water Tower are Gleave Square and of course Sheil Park heights are the 3 white 22 storey blocks.
