    Default Pavement Artists!

I dont go into town much, lately, and miss seeing things like street musicians, etc! Does anyone remember this guy,who did amazing copies of Grimshaw pictures of Liverpool? It was sometime in the 80's,I think? Anyone else got any,as I remember a few good one's, who were around then, and later!

Thats the work of "John Atkinson Grimshaw" 1836 to 1893

I would find doing street art a very pointless exercise as it only needs some rain and its gone.
I know the guy is trying to make a little money.

Bloody Hell. Had completely forgotten about this guy. His drawings were brilliant but I don't think I really appreciated how good they were at the time.

He's good but he ain't that good, the road was cobbled in grimshaws piece,he's just thrown in a load of lines.

Mind you though I'm not ****ging the guy down but Pastles are very easy to draw with, and I find any artist that has to drop down to this level is one that can't make the grade as an artist.

I as an artist do have the right to critique.

I have thought the same about sand sculptures that you see at the beach, especially on holiday abroad. When you consider the talent and effort it takes to create a sand sculpture, and it won't last very long.

Slightly different subject, but I went to view a Mandala at the museum - amazing to watch !
The monks demonstrate the meticulous discipline it takes to create this amazing work of art. They use coloured sand and it's very time consuming and tedious work blowing the grains of sand into place. They use little blow pipes like fine straws.
The finished results are ceremoniously destroyed in an instant. This is to demonstrate the Buddhist belief that nothing in life is permanent and we shouldn't hold onto worldly, materialistic things.

click onto the flickr link on the web-site to see the Mandala take shape - and the last pics of the finished work of art.

    Amazing !

I believe he'd just started doing the cobbles when he ma rang him on his mobile as his tea was ready.

Is this the same fella who done the biblical portraits in Church Street as he was also very talented.

That first pic' reminds me of the Canadian "Mountie", that was attached to a warehouse wall, opposite the Albert dock! I think it was to do with Labatt's beer?

When I was in Rome there was loads of these pavement artists. I reckon Julian Beaver is the best though.
