Great pic' Joe,fantastic Byzantine style architecture, possibly connected with St.Philip Neri's background? Isn't this used for another purpose, now? And I always wondered if those odd bits/pillars were remnants of another building!

The church was built in 1920,the sculpture on the front about 1945 by Tom Murphy, not the Tom Murphy thats currently doing local work now.
    Has it closed now ?
It was the university chaplaincy with tea and biscuits served to the students after mass on sundays.

Whether one is religious and a believer or not, I find the architecture of these buildings, the scale, smell, aura and biblical statues and paintings fantastic.

To echo what Ged has said - and I'm not a believer - I love these buildings, I love the scale and architecture of them.
St. Monica's in Bootle is one of my favourites - Art Deco at it's best!
I'll try and photograph some this week myself.
Somebody asked what is on the site of Christ Church (Sedgemoor Road) in Norris Green. It's a new development of houses finished around Christmas time and called Christ Church Close.
