This block is hidden away nowadays, but I'm 99% sure it was a toilet block in the 1970s (St James' Road)

Waited months to sit in traffic with my phone ready - can anyone else find a sign pointing to Toilets in Liverpool? (old style only please!!!)

Sign is next to the Lock-Up in Wavertree!

I found this picture on Liverpool record office archives

A photograph of the ceiling of the public conveniences that were built underground in Derby Square. This shows the domed ceiling which protrudes above the ground. People are walking along the street. The street running behind the public conveniences is likely to be Preesons Row, and the street running off that, Redcress Street

Thanks for the pic - not seen it before.
They were really magnificent and were probably built at the same time as the Victoria Memorial (1906), which they were behind.
There's a drawing of the interior at #19 in this thread.

I know it's not quite liverpool, but there used to be some off south rd in waterloo (I don't know if they're still there). Will have to get a bus down there sometime and see if they're still open .

There also used to be some right by the front of south park in bootle. I remember a college lecturer telling us a story about him using his scanner on the police frequencies and hearing them describe an incident of 2 men being caught taking part in a sexual act there.

I thought most have them had been closed due to these sort of incidents and muggings etc. If they opened new ones, you'd need a bouncer on the doors at night !!!

Default underground toilets london rd, future mystery/myth

I seem to remember a set in London rd where the new ulgy toilet block is.

On a less serious note maybe in 100 years time that generations Tom Slemen will be writing stories about secret underground "Stalls" or cells discovered while they were digging the st. tony blair london hovercraft tunnel, in one of the stalls they found me sitting there with a hand of cards in my hand....lets starts these myths early as we can

Did not see any mention of the old toilets that graced the corner of Sheil Road and West Derby Road (gents only). They had a Bus stop in front of them.
I think they have long gone.
