    Beautiful pictures.
Isn't the Liver Bird based on the Cormorant?

The Liver bird shield is on the Railway bridge adjacent to Runcorn-Widnes bridge.
The various shields were being painted when I passed (2004).

I managed to browse through David Cotterals book today, at 9.99 it provides pictures of the locations of 1000 liverbirds!!!

These advertising hoardings include Liverbirds in the metalwork.
The first 2 pics are at the junction of Athol st/Stanley rd. (note pub has now gone)

Marky, fantastic pics. Keep meaning to take pics of the Scottie Rd one, but it's one of those fleeting moments whenever I drive past. It's a cracking piece of artwork. Many's the time I've been tempted to disassemble it (I reckon 20 minutes tops), slap it in my hire van and reassemble it in my back garden. Seriously

That bottom one looks like it has been well-used as a WAX-RUBBING. So there's an idea for the museum; so many museums and "experiences" offer "ready-made" brass images for the kids to do wax-rubbings of, and it would only cost buttons to have this kind of thing available in Liverpool Museums. Any other ideas what sort of things could be offered in such a gallery/section/area? Section of Shankly Gates? Something off a ferry-boat (bell)?

Happy Christmas to all and sundry.

    Gerry
