just browsed thru all these pictures, fantastic stuff!

this one caught my eye tho

ive never seen a liverbird or any other bird in the top of an ionic cap before. This is the top of a column and ive never seen that style before. can anybody tell me where it is? id love to go see this.

Im also tempted to now make a liverbird. Ill ask my old man and grandad if they ever had to make a liverbird or do some restoration on one, if so there may be a mould lying aroind

    Hi Mike
It's in Castle St - it's the boutique hotel.
I'm in town with hubby this afternoon so I'll get a larger pic for you.

    Hi All

A Christmas present to myself, purchased on ebay. I even sent myself a Christmas card. And you thought you were a sad case. . .

Commemorative medallion from 1931 celebrating the visit of the Lord Mayor of Liverpool to New York City.

Bronze commemorative medal marking the visit of Edwin Thompson, Lord Mayor of Liverpool, to New York City, May 4-12, 1931. Diameter: 46 x 38mm (approx. 2" high by 1 1/4" wide) Weight: 20 g.

Reverse inscriptions read: TO COMMEMORATE / THE VISIT OF THE RT HON / THE LORD MAYOR / OF / LIVERPOOL / EDWIN THOMPSON / TO / HIS HONOUR THE MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY / THE HONOURABLE / JAMES J. WALKER MAY 4th-12th 1931

The Mayor of New York, Jimmy Walker (1881-1946), mayor during the Jazz Age, presided over a corrupt administration. He was quite a character and was nicknamed "Beau James." You can read about him here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Walker

An article in Time magazine on the administration of Herbert Hoover said that Lord Mayor Edwin Thompson spoke out of turn while he was at a dinner in New York City, revealing something of what President Hoover had said to him at the White House about the economic situation.
