    Thanks for the notes.
The first one was a Co-op.
You can tell by the Wheatsheaf logo.
On the top it says (said?) something like Toxteth Co-operative Provident Society, even though it's not in Toxteth.

I'm trying to think of what date stones I've walked past [or plaques commemorating the building of something]. Almost every building on the north side of Kensington from Farnworth St to past Sheil Rd has one,the terraced houses on the south side,by Low Hill, have one, then further into town we have the Co-Op building on London Rd.,the toilets in Monument Place [yes, really!],the Royal Infirmirary, the coach station,Central library,Clayton Square arcade...there are tons! There's also a nice one on a building on the Dock Rd,by Sandon Dock industrial estate.

Ooh I forgot, the splendid Natwest on London Rd has 1899 on it,at the top of its riot of red brick decorations.

there's this wee bit on the Sefton Council website

Bootle’s first library was in Oriel Road, by the Town Hall: it opened on 22nd June 1887. The elegant building also housed a museum and art gallery for this thriving Victorian town.

By the 1970s Bootle Library was underused; the building was old, and the nearby resident population was shrinking. With government funding Sefton MBC built a replacement library on Stanley Road, which would be more accessible and nearer the commercial heart of the town. It opened on 17th September 1979 and flourished.

An arson attack in November 2002 resulted in a great deal of damage: after extensive repair work the library re-opened in March 2004.
