I am researching my family tree and have a gg grandfather who was a bootmaker in Liverpool from at least 1851-1881. His name was John Coe and in 1871 census he is recorded as living at "20? Richmond House in the ward of Lime Street, sub district of Islington.
Can anyone advise me on how I might find out more about his work. He employed 10 men so it must have been reasonably successful, would there be official records of any kind?
Does Richmond House still stand?
I wonder if other local families have a connection?
