    I know exactly what you mean.

    I talked about this once before here on Yo, but when I was little I was horrified at the gas works down past Walton prison, Hornby rd. We used to get the 68 bus from Anfield to get to Stanley rd, then another bus along to Crosby where we would have a day out at the beach. But seeing those huge gasometers looming they were black, and if the sun was shining on them they sort of glittered .. and they smelled horrible !! I think I probably had nightmares about them !! I was only about 5.
    I always said, I'd hate to live in a house where there is a gas works looming over you !
