    Thumbs up

Found a few photos that relate to my brother's time at St Peters. I'll ask him to identify the other pupils.
    Cheers,
    Chas

Just spotted this thread and although not from the area, I do enjoy seeing the pics and reading about life back then ( well just before my time ! ) thanks to all.

Sackville Street old and new. Taken in 1960 showing what was to be lost and the new heights going up on Garibaldi street which took their names from Italian reformists. Pic from Liverpool Echo archives.

    Hi Ged,
I've been away from the computer for a while, great photo of Sackville St. I finally got around to finishing "In a city living, 3" and did enjoy it. Best wishes,
    Chas

    Hi Peter E,
The photos were taken by my brother, I'll ask him to identify the lads. Apologies for my late reply.
I've just been to LRO and have requested a lot of pics that were donated by Mr Bookless (god bless him). The quality is variable but it's great to know that he had the foresight to have them preserved. I found one photograph of the premises where I was brought up in Roscommon Street, and a few others of Rossy, back Rossy etc. which I will post online when I receive them.
Regards to all, the Roscommon St search continues.
    Best wishes,
    Chas

    Hello Chas.

Its pure luck that I have logged on tonight, I am not on the site very often these days. I see you are still looking for old rossie photos.

If you can call down to the 'Shewsy club' in Langrove St any Friday morning from 10.30am to 12.30, there is a group of us there who are recording the history of the club. There are plenty of photos to see and maybe there is something of interest to you.

Hope you can make it sometime, just ask for the archive team!

    Cheers.

    Hi Samp.
Good to hear from you, I got your message today (Friday) and I can't make it. Is next week (Friday 8th July) an option?
    Many thanks,
    Chas

    Talking

    Bosso, Ged,
Do you know of any access restrictions as I'll be in my wheelchair, the last time I was there I was fairly mobile ( and my car was taken and found around the corner undamaged, but that's another story)? Can I save any photos to a USB device or do I have to photograph them individually?
Thanks for all your help in the past,
    Chas

I've used a photo program to automatically enhance the contrast and brightness after discarding the colour info which was the brown colour of age. Apart from that the photos are untouched.
Regards to Samp and Ged etc. for their encouragement in the past,
    Chas

    Thanks Ged,
There are a few more photos from the school that were saved by Mr Bookless (headmaster) in 1972. He's now dead but his wife is in a care home in Wigan. Today I got a return call from his son,Don, who knew nothing about the folder his dad had left in LRO. I told him about Yo Liverpool and says he'll get his son to look it up.
    Regards,
    Chas
