There's only 2 on Boaler street these days, the Sir Walter Raleigh and Macs but there used to be another couple at Farnworth street end.

Default pubs and bray or vasper

also slightly off topic but the pub ive been trying to get a pic of-the old curiosity vaults/old curio on park lane-well it was run by the bray family and one of the lads jimmy bray was a well known welter weight boxer in the area-does anyone remember that family or is everyone on here too young???? think he was same era as randolph turpin. thats prob. far too early for you all-but worth a try-maybe your grandads knew the family.????????

This is way off topic, too, but I took a photo of Randy Turpin's Bar (top of the Great Orme, Llandudno) in 1960!
They were about the only times I took photos of places when I was a child - on my holidays, that is.

Default randolph turpin and jimmy bray

To be honest i know nothing of randolph turpin-only that he would not fight jimmy bray-but maybe that was just paper talk. Ive been to the top of the great orme though-never knowing it was his place once-wow-thanks for that. Was randolph big in liverpool then???? I have an article cut out from one of the papers of the time-around 1943 where it was saying jimmy bray and his team were trying to arrange a fight between him and randolph but he kept backing out . Insinuating that he may have been afraid to fight jimmy-so i presume from that that randolph had a reputation ???????
sorry-gone off topic there-but it is kind of associated with pubs -kind of......

The Botanic is almost demolished (just a small section of wall is left).
I can't believe the price of this postcard on E-bay of the Botanic:

It's opposite Central Station in Cases Street.

    Marky.
    That card is rare.
It would have cost about £25 five years ago, which is about the amount of time I've not bothering buying more postcards.
In the 1960s I used to pay 6d each before Stanley Gibbons published the first postcard catalogue, which started people realising they were worth something.
