If it's exactly opposite the Swedish Church, and on the corner of Greetham Street, it is listed in 1936 as being occupied by Guinness, Brewers.
Even so, I don't think it was actually run as a pub - probably just their offices in Liverpool.
Does anybody know if Guinness was brewed (or even bottled) in Liverpool?

excellent info and pic thank you sir!

a very merry christmas to you

It closed because it was meant to be pulled down for the Merseytram which never got built. This is the same case with the Botanic on Picton Road.

    Default The Villiars, Aug 1985.

This was on the corner of Eliot Street and Great Charlotte Street (where George is).
It was demolished in Dec 1985 for the Clayton Square redevelopment.

Yeah there was last year I think, a vagrant/drug addict who looks like he'd gone their for a kip and never woke up.

It was a bit of a nostalgia trip today, many years ago I used to work in North West Waterin Merton House Stanley Rd and the Jawbone was a regular Friday wind down pub. I went in there today for the first time in 13 years and loved it.

Yeah I've had many a good night in the Merton too, but much prefered the Jawbone, I must admit its been ages since I was down in Bootle village but can still remember a few good weekends down there.

Sorry no idea, it was either the Merton and then down Stanley Rd to Sullys or Jawbone and home.

    Make sure you submit it.

If you just preview it & do nothing else, you lose it.

When you are doing a thread go to the "manage attachments" section of the "additional optoins" bit underneath the main box. It should give you the option to upload a picture from your PC.

Does anyone ever take pics of the Pub signs?

I got the Idea of taking pics of the signs too while In town last month and was reminded of Liverpool Views So I thought I'd expand to taking pics of signs too, not just buildings, Incase the weather was crap.

Had a great one of the Cock and Bottle but accidently deleted It!

    Railway Inn, Wellington Road Wavertree.

I still can't believe the Parkway closed down, It looked brand new and In good nick inside!

Pubs around here keep reopening and reclosing too, probably when someone needs money off the insurance.

Gerard, your picture with the cobbles (or are they called sets?) was excellent.
I like to get the road and pavements in, when I can, especially when they're wet.
