I'll tell you what, had to move round the country due to my dads job over the years, but Liverpool to me has the widest range of brilliant boozers, and i mean that for the actual architectural content never mind the amount that serve great beer.

Default Liverpool's latest High-Class Drinking Establishment.

The former Las vegas Amusement Arcade in Skelhorne Street.
Opposite one of the entrances to Lime Street Station.
Until recently this was one of Liverpool's official "Grot spots".
Now it has been tastefully converted into this.

Is this part of the new Gateway to Liverpool?

At least "Larger" is only £1 a bottle.

This must be one of the buildings getting knocked down in that area when they redevelop Limestreet..please..

Although I have fond memories of that arcade used to go there to play green beret and commando,

We only had one arcade in oldswan and it did not last very long. think it was next to the HSBC bank around 1979/80..ish

    I think it's absolutely disgusting.
We're supposed to be the Capital of Culture next year, and the first thing that people will see when they leave Lime Street Station is this building with one cheap coat of black emulsion and a sign written by illiterates.
Is this the first impression of Liverpool we want to give to visitors?
I've lost all confidence in Liverpool City Council.

Philip, is the Stanley Arms on the same side and location as the abattoir, or am I on the wrong track there?

No, the new Stanley as it was known is on the same side as the abattoir and is directly opposite 'Dixies' the Old Stanley Arms. There doing something to the new Stanley after years of neglect after a fire. Don't know if it'll open as a pub again as I don't think it'll get the clientele to keep it afloat.

The Stanley pub, Stanley, from 4 weeks ago...something must be happening to it. This still had the scaffolding/dust sheets around it, when I passed a few days ago.
