There are so many old pubs in Liverpool being done away with.

    especially in the city centre.

Old fashioned pubs have more character than new trendy bars.

Vauxhall Road, Vauxhall What this building will be missed for is probably the fact that it is built out of yellow sandstone. This type of building material is very rare in this part of the country which is why neigbouring buildings are built out of either red sandstone or brick. To me, this looks Yorkshire-esque with all of it's detailing and such like. I didn't know that it was to be demolished though, just imagined that simple maintanence was being carried out to make it sell-able.

Vauxhall Road, Vauxhall The pub in happier times from 2003 and here

The Eagle, Vauxhall Road, Vauxhall At least "The Eagle" is still going, for now.

The Brinswick, Tithebarn Street, City Centre The Brunswick Pub also seen here on 17JAN07 looking slightly closed.

Tithebarn Street, City Centre The same pub from 2003 and here

The Glasshouse, Edge Lane, Old Swan Would it suprise anyone with all the work going on along here, this would turn into a trendy wine bar to serve all the rich persons comming into the city? They will soon be able to boast granite paving like the Parafin Oil Shop a few doors down!

The Railway Inn, Wellington Road, Wavertree This building looked interesting from Picton Road and was even more attractive once I got opposite it! This image was taken carefully without making the drivers in the rather lengthy traffic jam feel as if I was stalking them. It has happened before!

There are some right divvies, or perhaps they've got a guilty conscience.
I was in Smithdown Road the other day, and a lady (sorry, ignorant cow) was in a car screaming at me to put my camera away.
I carried on snapping, and without looking at her car, gave her a discrete "V" sign.

That's why I try to angle me camera upwards; it's why most of my images are mainly of upper stories! But it's happened to me twice which does knock you back slightly. Might get some business cards printed to avoid confusion.

Just one pub today, did get others but my image size editing is taking slightly longer than anticipated!..

Clifton Road East, Tuebrook A small backstreet pub in Tuebrook. Anyone know who the Clifton's were? I tried looking them up in my "History of Liverpool Suburbs Book" but they didn't get a mention. My guess is that they were the local land owner from when Tuebrook was an agricultural district and so when the area was built up, the name was remembered through roads and pub names.

Does anyone have any photos of The Andy Capp pub (known as The Old Stingo) on Netherfield Road?

Should have taken one directly of her and shouting, "Your hubbie's put me onto you" - imagine tea time in their house that night....
