This pub was originally part of a small terrace of three houses, built some time after 1835, as a map of that date shows two other terraces on South Hill Road, nearer Park Road, with a much smaller building on the site of this pub. The terrace is shown as three houses on the 1847 OS map. Later in the 19th century the Dingle Mount corner was extended to become a public house. In the late 20th century it was one of the few remaining Victorian buildings in the area. It was demolished in 2002 (August?). The site is now grassed over with a Mosaic Cross inserted.
Note the now demolished church of St Finbar to the right.
Thanks for this information, Philip.
